Winners Announced at the Fourth Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Forum

The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) recently wrapped up the fourth edition of the Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Forum, highlighting the triumph of three innovative ventures and elevating the role of creativity within the UAE’s economic landscape.

This year’s forum, held on October 30 and 31 at Area 57 within Al Khayat Avenue, focused on the theme “Creative Frontiers – Expanding What’s Possible,” bringing together entrepreneurs, artists, investors, and industry experts. The event provided a platform for engaging discussions, presentations, and workshops aimed at promoting sustainable business practices among creative entrepreneurs. Sponsored by Wio Business, the forum underscored its commitment to empowering creatives with financial tools essential for business growth.

Among the highlights was the announcement of the winners of the Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Competition. SoundX: Base claimed the first prize of AED 80,000, showcasing its commitment to enhancing the music industry through technology and mentorship. Les Marionnettes and Rooted Elevation Games followed closely, winning AED 50,000 and AED 30,000 respectively for their innovative approaches to puppetry and game development. Each winner exemplifies the diverse talent and innovative spirit flourishing in Dubai’s cultural and creative sectors.

The forum placed significant emphasis on mentorship as participants were guided by industry professionals in preparation for their project pitches. Notable mentors included Osama Shawky, CEO of Estaie Holdings, and Dr. Lena Kurban of the American University in Dubai, covering various areas such as entrepreneurship and creative production. This mentorship scheme aims to enhance participants’ chances of success by equipping them with the necessary skills and insights to navigate the competitive creative landscape.

Jury members for the competition were renowned figures from the investment and creative industries, evaluating eight finalist projects. Khaled AlHammadi from Emirates Development Bank and Nadine Mezher from NAWA were among the jury, lending their expertise to identify the most promising entrepreneurial ventures. Their involvement reflects an increasing recognition of the potential within Dubai’s creative sectors as lucrative investment opportunities.

The forum offered more than just competition; it provided a comprehensive learning experience through workshops and panel discussions. Topics such as sustainability in creative projects and practical applications of Artificial Intelligence for businesses were covered, catering to the evolving needs of today’s entrepreneurs. This approach not only equipped attendees with valuable skills but also encouraged a culture of collaboration and innovation.

As Dubai continues to establish itself as a global hub for creativity and entrepreneurship, events like the Al Quoz Creative Entrepreneurship Forum play a vital role in fostering a vibrant ecosystem. The integration of cultural initiatives into the broader economic framework signifies a shift towards a more dynamic and diversified economy within the UAE.

Going forward, the emphasis on collaboration between creatives and investors highlights the potential for sustained growth in the region’s creative industries. By nurturing such initiatives, Dubai Culture reinforces its commitment to positioning the emirate as a leader in cultural and creative innovation, ultimately contributing to economic diversification and growth across the Gulf region.
