UAE Unveils New Sea Drone for Enhanced Surveillance and Emergency Operations

Advanced Integrated Technology (AIT), a branch of the UAE-based Streit Group, showed off the Sea Drone at IDEX 2025. It is a quadcopter made for bad weather. This new drone can fall on water and is resistant to snow, rain, salt fog, and fine dust, so it can be used in both coastal and desert settings. The Sea Drone is designed to carry cargo and keep an eye on its surroundings, so it can work well in a variety of situations.

The Sea Drone comes equipped with various customizable payload options to enhance its functionality. These payloads include a loudspeaker system, a Wingsland Z15 flashing light, a ball drop system for fire extinguishing, a mobile cellular station, and a lifebuoy casting system known as MSS SSI-9D-L. Additionally, the drone integrates the KURSIR search engine, which enables effective search operations in the event of crashes. These features make the Sea Drone versatile for both civilian and security applications, including emergency response operations and reconnaissance missions.

With a flight time of up to 30 minutes, the Sea Drone can carry payloads of up to 5 kg. It achieves a maximum flight speed of 60 km/h and operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 40°C.

The Sea Drone features IP67-rated protection, enabling it to operate in extreme environmental conditions, including post-sandstorm scenarios or high-salinity coastal areas. This capability distinguishes it from many UAVs that require additional protective measures to function properly in such harsh conditions. Its resilience and adaptability are particularly valuable in security operations, coastal monitoring, and disaster response efforts, especially where conventional UAVs might struggle.

Waterproof quadcopter drones like the Sea Drone have been used successfully in many fields because they can fly in tough circumstances. These drones are very useful for search and rescue missions, especially during floods or maritime emergencies, because they can quickly cover large areas, find people, and bring supplies without putting rescue workers in danger. In marine study, they keep an eye on underwater ecosystems and track marine species while collecting data about the environment. They are also used for industrial inspections, like checking out bridges and offshore platforms, which cuts down on the need for human divers in dangerous situations.

Waterproof drones are durable and useful in many situations because of how they are designed. Their sealed circuits and corrosion-resistant materials let them work well in bad weather and when it is wet. This is because flotation devices make it safe to land on wet surfaces, which increases their usefulness. They are more useful in tasks that need both types of mobility because they can easily move between air and water environments.

Waterproof multicopter drones can be used, as shown by models like the SwellPro SplashDrone 4 and the HexH2O Pro V2. The SplashDrone 4 can be used in any weather and has a waterproof 4K gimbal camera for taking pictures when it is wet. The HexH2O Pro V2 can fly and dive, which makes it perfect for inspections and exploring.
