Morocco is set to construct a significant seawater desalination plant along its Northern Mediterranean coastline, aimed at enhancing drinking water supplies in the region. This initiative, reported by a local newspaper, highlights the ongoing efforts to address water scarcity issues in the area.

The desalination facility, located in the port city of Tangier, is designed with a production capacity of approximately 150 million cubic meters per year. The completion of this project is anticipated by the year 2028, according to Sabah Akadir’s report.
Official sources indicate that the Moroccan government intends to involve the private sector in funding the project. They noted that “the private sector will also have a shareholding in the project, which will support the country’s efforts to face climatic changes and ensure water security.” This collaboration aims to bolster the nation’s resilience against climate-related challenges.
