ZTE Corporation and e& UAE have successfully completed a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) trial for a private 5G network in the UAE, marking a significant step toward accelerating the region’s digital transformation. This collaboration addresses the growing need for innovative and secure connectivity solutions that can support smarter industries and sustainable growth.

Abdulrahman Al Humaidan, Acting Senior Vice President of Mobile Network at e& UAE, stated that the successful PoC trial highlights the strength of their partnership with ZTE, as they combine advanced 5G private network solutions with enterprise digital transformation expertise. He emphasized that together, they are fostering innovation that empowers UAE enterprises with secure, scalable, and efficient connectivity solutions.
The trial revealed the potential for significant growth in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market, with analysts projecting that the private network market will expand from $246 million in 2024 to $679 million by 2029, according to Omdia. To capitalize on this demand, ZTE and e& UAE conducted the PoC trial to validate their advanced technical capabilities.
During the trial, the network demonstrated multi-band capabilities across millimeter wave (26GHz), mid-band (4.9GHz), and low-band (700MHz) frequencies. It proved to be technically feasible for next-generation enterprise applications, such as real-time video streaming for CCTV systems. Key achievements included an uplink-oriented solution that achieved a single-cell uplink speed of up to 2.04Gbps, addressing critical needs for high-definition video surveillance and real-time data uploads in smart city applications.
Additionally, ZTE introduced NodeEngine Edge Computing, a simplified plug-and-play solution that significantly reduced deployment time to under an hour, requiring only a single VGC board and no core network configuration. This advancement addresses the complexity of multi-site, multi-technology deployments while facilitating e&’s efforts to empower various industries across the UAE, including smart ports, industrial parks, healthcare facilities, and smart airports.
In alignment with Omdia’s findings, where 61% of enterprises reported improved production and efficiency from private networks, the scalability, low-latency capabilities, and high-bandwidth support of ZTE’s solutions provide a strong foundation for enterprises aiming to accelerate their digital transformation. ZTE’s technologies tackle key challenges in industrial applications, such as real-time video analysis, intelligent alerts, and effective resource management, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting innovative use cases in mission-critical scenarios.
