The new device utilizes vacuum technology specifically designed to eliminate dangerous blood clots from large veins, including those that lead to the heart and lungs. The operation is carried out in a minimally invasive manner through a catheter, which notably reduces the risk of complications that are often associated with traditional open-heart surgery.
The operation was conducted on a 70-year-old female patient who was in serious condition and had multiple severe health issues, including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation, characterized by irregular heartbeats.
Medical representatives stated that the new technology offers a gentle and efficient method for removing blood clots. The device features a nitinol basket mechanism and an expandable funnel tip, which allow for the removal of large blood clots with minimal blood loss during the procedure.
