TSMC Evaluates Potential Advanced Chip Plant in the UAE

TSMC is currently assessing the possibility of constructing an advanced production facility in the United Arab Emirates. The company has already engaged in discussions regarding this potential project with officials from the U.S. government, specifically during the administration of President Donald Trump, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mackenzie Hawkins and Jenny Leonard.

In recent months, TSMC has held several meetings with Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, as well as with officials from MGX, an influential investment entity managed by the brother of the UAE president. These discussions are a continuation of earlier talks that started during President Joe Biden’s administration but had subsided by the end of his term.

The establishment of an advanced chip plant would mark TSMC’s further expansion into international markets, enhancing its production capabilities in a critical sector that is increasingly vital for global technology.
