The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) has partnered with Metal Park Investment ME Ltd to establish a dedicated Industry 4.0 Competence Centre in Abu Dhabi. This advanced technology hub aims to accelerate the digitalisation of the metal manufacturing sector and support the emirate’s goal to become a global leader in next-generation industrial innovation.

The Competence Centre demonstrates a shared commitment to equipping manufacturers with Industry 4.0 technologies, which will empower businesses to succeed in an increasingly digital and data-driven industrial environment. The facility will cover over five million square feet within Metal Park’s purpose-built industrial zone in KEZAD, located around 8 kilometres from Khalifa Port. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of the metal manufacturing value chain, offering infrastructure and digital environments that facilitate rapid prototyping, pilot testing, and scaling for Industry 4.0 applications.
Serving as a gateway to Abu Dhabi’s vibrant industrial ecosystem, the Competence Centre will provide a robust platform for the development, testing, and scaling of technologies including robotics, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), predictive maintenance, digital twins, AI-enhanced production optimisation, and autonomous logistics. Furthermore, it will act as a centre of excellence for capacity building, preparing the workforce with necessary skills for a digitally-enabled industrial future.
This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy (ADIS), which aims to double the manufacturing sector’s GDP contribution to AED 172 billion by 2031. According to ZAWYA, Mohammad Al Kamali, Chief Industry & Trade Officer at ADIO, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating that “Abu Dhabi is entering a new era of economic transformation where innovation, sustainability, and advanced technology define our industrial future.”
Saleh Shahrestani, Chairman of Metal Park, noted that the Competence Centre will be a cornerstone for technological progress in the regional metal industry. He expressed that the collaboration with ADIO is essential for creating an environment where industrial players can develop, validate, and implement innovative solutions, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global hub for advanced manufacturing.
Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025, the Competence Centre is set to support Abu Dhabi’s transformation into a globally integrated, export-driven economy. It will provide investors with direct access to strategic partnerships, world-class infrastructure, and a progressive regulatory framework.
