The project involves a 1.4 gigawatt-capacity campus and includes partnerships with France-backed investment firm Bpifrance and the country’s generative AI leader Mistral AI. This development builds on the UAE’s previous commitment to invest up to €50 billion (approximately $56.4 billion) in French data centers.

Expected to be operational by 2028, the campus comes with a price tag of $9.6 billion. This facility is part of a broader trend of AI infrastructure expansion involving the UAE. MGX is also a member of a consortium supporting the $100 billion Stargate initiative, which focuses on enhancing US data center infrastructure. Additionally, Abu Dhabi will establish a 5 GW AI campus as part of a separate agreement with Washington.
