UAE and Cyprus Presidents Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties in Phone Call

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in a phone call with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. The leaders focused on opportunities for collaboration, especially in the economic and development sectors, aligning with the strategic partnership that has been established between the UAE and Cyprus.

During the conversation, Christodoulides expressed gratitude towards the UAE for providing Cyprus with portable desalination plants to help address the country’s water shortages. Since the early 2000s, Cyprus has been constructing desalination plants, which now fulfill approximately 70 percent of the drinking water needs of its population.

The two presidents also deliberated on regional and international developments that are of mutual interest. They shared their viewpoints on key issues relevant to both countries, as reported by the national news agency Wam.
