Abu Dhabi Expands RoboTaxi Trials with Autogo and Apollo Go

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre, known as Abu Dhabi Mobility, has expanded its Autonomous RoboTaxi service trials in collaboration with Autogo, a company that specializes in autonomous mobility solutions and is a subsidiary of Kintsugi Holding. This initiative is part of a strategic partnership with Apollo Go, a subsidiary of Baidu, a global leader in autonomous vehicle technologies.

These trials serve as a preparatory phase for the full-scale launch of the RoboTaxi service, which is expected to be operational by 2026. The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s broader mobility vision aimed at delivering smart and efficient transport solutions that enhance the quality of life and support the region’s digital transformation, as stated in an official announcement.

The sixth generation of RoboTaxi vehicles, referred to as RT6, has been specifically designed to provide an intelligent and seamless mobility experience. These vehicles feature an advanced electric design and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered systems that allow for accurate navigation and immediate responsiveness to real-time road conditions. By minimizing human error, these vehicles enhance road safety and offer a more convenient mobility option, while also supporting environmental sustainability through reduced emissions and alleviating traffic congestion.

Dr. Abdulla AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre, emphasized that the expansion of the autonomous RoboTaxi service marks a pivotal milestone in the journey toward smart mobility. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with the vision to deliver innovative transport solutions that enhance quality of life and support the Emirate’s digital transformation efforts.

Additionally, Sean Teo, General Manager of Kintsugi Holding, remarked that the new operational phase of the RoboTaxi service signifies a transformative shift in urban mobility. He noted that autonomous taxis are aimed at improving road safety and enabling more sustainable transport options, expressing pride in contributing to this significant development in the United Arab Emirates.

This initiative is part of Abu Dhabi Mobility’s comprehensive strategy to gradually scale the service, focusing on evaluating performance under real-world conditions and engaging with road users. The goal is to set a solid foundation for the full deployment of the service across the Emirate by 2026.
