Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently showcased its advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) during Dubai AI Week, where it served as a strategic partner. The event featured numerous discussion sessions and interactive workshops focused on how AI can enhance efficiency in essential sectors, particularly in energy and water management.

Experts from DEWA highlighted the authority’s significant achievements in integrating AI technologies, including the use of computer-using agents and AI agents such as Rammas, DEWA’s virtual employee supported by AI and ChatGPT. They also introduced ‘Rammas at Work’, which enhances various services across multiple divisions like Generation (Power & Water), Transmission and Distribution Power, and Customer Services. Additionally, the discussions addressed AI applications aimed at improving operational efficiency, such as smart grid solutions and specialized AI for billing, customer happiness, employee development, and IT support.
The workshops also emphasized DEWA’s pioneering efforts in implementing generative AI technologies, particularly with the Microsoft Power Platform and smart assistants like Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot. DEWA is recognized as the first government organization in the UAE to adopt these advanced technologies from Microsoft, making it one of the first utilities globally to integrate Microsoft’s Copilot. Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, led a session on strategies for effectively integrating and managing AI technologies to maximize their benefits.
More than 100 students from the DEWA Academy participated in various workshops, aimed at providing them with essential skills and knowledge about AI tools and applications. This initiative is part of DEWA’s commitment to preparing a qualified generation capable of leading an AI-driven future in Dubai. The agenda also included educational competitions, question-and-answer sessions, and interactive activities that highlighted the practical aspects of developing AI agents using different platforms.
