HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), recently welcomed HE Husin Bagis, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the UAE. The discussions focused on enhancing public-private partnerships and sharing best practices, expertise, and knowledge with Indonesian organizations to promote sustainable development.

During the meeting, Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s leading initiatives and projects in clean energy. He emphasized the authority’s achievements in decarbonization, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to global net-zero goals. The importance of strengthening collaboration between the UAE and Indonesia in economic, trade, and investment sectors, particularly in renewable energy and water, was also underscored as a strategic priority for both nations.

Al Tayer detailed DEWA’s commitment to the Independent Power and Water Producer (IPWP) model, which has successfully attracted global investments and achieved record-low tariffs for solar energy projects. He reiterated Dubai’s dedication to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. A key element of DEWA’s achievements is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, recognized as the world’s largest single-site solar park, illustrating Dubai’s transition to a sustainable economy.

Moreover, Al Tayer stressed DEWA’s role in facilitating public-private collaboration aimed at scaling innovative solutions in green hydrogen, smart grids, and circular economy practices. DEWA is ranked among the world’s top utilities for efficiency and innovation, aligning its initiatives with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and positioning Dubai as a hub for green investment and technological excellence.

Ambassador Bagis praised DEWA’s pioneering projects and expressed Indonesia’s interest in collaborating with DEWA to provide clean and affordable water for communities in Indonesia. He pointed out that access to clean water is a significant challenge in many areas of Indonesia, especially in dry and remote regions. The Ambassador expressed hope that DEWA’s advanced expertise in water desalination and sustainable water management could serve as a model for similar initiatives in Indonesia.
