Abu Dhabi has recently inaugurated its first fully circular automatic water bottling facility, marking a significant advancement towards sustainable hospitality in the UAE. This initiative is a partnership between BE WTR, a Swiss-born sustainable water brand, and Rosewood Abu Dhabi. The launch event took place at Majlis by Pierre Hermé and featured key government officials, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates.

The facility includes the BiG 1500, a state-of-the-art glass bottling machine designed to promote a zero-waste, plastic-free future. This machine is capable of purifying, filtering, and bottling local water at an impressive speed of 1,500 bottles per hour. The technology ensures no human contact during the process, thereby maintaining high hygiene and quality standards. By operating within Rosewood Abu Dhabi, located on Al Maryah Island, the facility helps eliminate the carbon footprint associated with transporting bottled water, supporting the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy.
The impacts of this new facility are noteworthy. It is expected to eliminate 1,500,000 single-use plastic bottles annually and save approximately 1,000 tons of CO₂ each year by reducing transportation emissions. Additionally, Rosewood Abu Dhabi will provide reusable glass bottles that can be utilized over 300 times, showcasing the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and enhancing guest experience. This initiative represents a positive step forward in the region’s environmental efforts.
