UAE-based Pure Harvest Smart Farms and South Korea’s PlanTFarm have announced the launch of a newly redeveloped high-tech farming facility in Al Ain, UAE. This innovative site is designed to leverage advanced AI-powered technologies for controlled environment agriculture (CEA)

The facility includes a pilot project aimed at growing animal fodder using 95% less water, which is a strategic move to decrease the Gulf region’s dependence on imported food. Additionally, the farm employs hybrid technology to enable year-round cultivation of local crops, including Korean strawberries and leafy greens.
This partnership, which was publicly announced in December 2023, integrates vertical farming techniques with greenhouse operations to enhance food security while minimizing resource usage. The initiative seeks to tackle the food security challenges faced by the UAE, focusing on efficient use of resources and sustainable agricultural practices.
