M42’s Healthpoint Expands Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Services

Healthpoint, a member of the M42 group, is improving its services in plastic and reconstructive surgery by treating specific chronic conditions including lymphedema and lipedema. Abnormal fat and fluid accumulation, which results in persistent swelling and discomfort, is a defining feature of many disorders. Modern artificial intelligence (AI) and technology will be used in the newly extended services’ sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to deliver individualized patient care.

Lymphedema happens when the lymphatic system does not work right and lymph fluid does not move properly. It can be primary, which is caused by genes, or secondary, which is usually caused by removing lymph nodes, getting radiation therapy, or being very overweight. Notably, studies show that around 20% of people who have had surgery for breast cancer may develop lymphedema afterward. Lipedema, on the other hand, usually shows up as uneven fat distribution in the lower body. It is linked to genetic and hormonal factors and affects about 11% of adult women around the world, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

At Healthpoint, the medical staff will check for lymphedema by looking at how much lymphatic fluid is being retained and how damaged the tissues are. They will also look for blockages in the lymphatic pathways to make personalized treatment plans. These plans might include preventative measures that do not involve surgery or physical treatments that are meant to change the way lymphatic fluid drains. In more serious cases, conservative liposuction can be used to get rid of extra fat while keeping important lymphatic veins. Knowing how bad these situations are is important for managing them well and keeping diseases away.

Healthpoint’s Department Head of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Nahla Al Mansoori, said that the growth shows their dedication to patient-centered care. She made it clear that the new services are designed to help people with specific medical conditions and are in line with M42’s goal of changing healthcare by using cutting-edge AI technology to power new solutions. Healthpoint wants to improve the quality of life for people with these difficult conditions by using personalized care plans and the newest medical discoveries.
