UAE Workers Must Renew Unemployment Insurance for Two Years

Workers in the UAE are now required to renew their Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance for a two-year period, as per an update highlighted by Gulf News. This change aims to prevent policy lapses and reduce the frequency of renewal reminders, offering greater convenience and continuous coverage for employees.

The renewal process is straightforward. Workers can complete it online by visiting the official ILOE website (www.iloe.ae). After entering their Emirates ID, mobile number, and verifying via an OTP, they can review their details, confirm the premium, and make the payment. For Category A employees (basic salary of Dh16,000 or below), the two-year premium is approximately Dh126, while Category B employees (basic salary above Dh16,000) will pay Dh252.

Alternatively, renewals can be processed in cash at Al Ansari Exchange branches or MOHRE service centres like Tawjeeh and Tasjeel.

The ILOE scheme provides financial support to workers who lose their jobs due to reasons other than resignation or disciplinary action. Eligible employees receive up to 60% of their basic salary (calculated over the last six months) for a maximum of three months per claim, provided they’ve maintained 12 consecutive premium payments.

Workers are encouraged to act promptly on renewal reminders to avoid any gaps in their coverage.
