Epson Opens New Innovation Centre in Dubai Production City

Epson, a leading name in technology, has opened its Innovation Centre in Dubai Production City, part of TECOM Group. The new facility aims to showcase cutting-edge solutions while focusing on sustainability and digital transformation.

The opening ceremony saw the attendance of key figures, including Yasunori Ogawa, CEO of Seiko Epson Corporation, and senior representatives from TECOM Group. Ogawa emphasised that the centre demonstrates Epson’s dedication to its partners and customers in the region, aiming to design efficient and environmentally friendly products tailored to local needs.

The Innovation Centre, equipped with the latest tools and technologies, will focus on areas like printing, scanning, visual display, and manufacturing. It will serve as a regional hub, connecting local insights with Epson’s research and development teams in Japan. This approach will help create solutions that meet the specific needs of the Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central & West Asia (META-CWA) markets.

Neil Colquhoun, President of Epson META-CWA, highlighted the company’s $1 million investment in the centre, reflecting its ambition to empower industries by addressing regional challenges and market demands.

Dubai Production City’s strategic location and infrastructure will play a vital role in supporting the centre’s operations. Majed Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President at TECOM Group, stated that this initiative aligns with Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the UAE’s National Strategy for the Cultural and Creative Industries, aiming to boost the creative economy and drive industry growth.

The centre will also host workshops, seminars, and training sessions to support professional development for Epson’s team, partners, and customers. Special programs for educators will enable the use of advanced technology in enhancing education quality.

Among the technologies showcased at the centre are Epson’s latest projectors, EcoTank printers, and business inkjet printers known for energy efficiency. The facility will also display advanced printing solutions like the SurePress L-6534VW UV Digital Label Press and SureColor V7000 UV Flatbed Printer.

Epson’s regional operations in META-CWA, headquartered in Dubai, currently employ over 330 staff, including more than 130 in the UAE. The Innovation Centre forms part of Epson’s $13 million investment in the region between 2022 and 2024, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
