A Dubai-based private developer, Sobha Group, has announced a massive Dh150 million bonus for its employees who were not part of the company’s existing incentive schemes. The bonus, distributed in December 2024, was awarded to staff across multiple departments as recognition for their hard work and contributions to the company’s success.
Ravi Menon, chairman of Sobha Group, said the bonus was a way to celebrate exceptional individuals within the organisation. According to Khaleej Times, he explained, “This special bonus is our way of expressing gratitude for the resilience our employees have shown, especially pushing boundaries in the past year and making a meaningful difference.”
This financial reward comes at a time when the rising cost of living has placed pressure on households across the UAE. A recent Bayt.com survey found that 77 per cent of employees in the Middle East and North Africa receive monetary benefits such as bonuses or overtime pay. The survey also noted that while men are more likely to receive financial perks, women tend to benefit more from policies supporting work-life balance.
Sobha Group’s reward not only highlights its appreciation for its workforce but also provides much-needed support in an era of increasing financial challenges.
