His Excellency, Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, the Director of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology (SAASST), recently welcomed representatives from the UAE Space Agency to strengthen their scientific partnership. The visit included a discussion session led by Prof. Al Naimiy, involving prominent academics and experts from both the Academy and the Agency. They explored opportunities for collaboration, aimed at activating existing agreements and planning future initiatives to support research and advance the UAE’s vision in the field of space.

The discussions particularly highlighted the importance of academic collaboration, which includes providing internship opportunities, facilitating knowledge exchange, and developing academic programs that align with the UAE’s National Space Strategy. Both parties examined potential applied research projects that would enhance the UAE’s space sector and emphasized the need for national initiatives to support students and researchers, empowering young talent in space-related fields.
This collaboration exemplifies the integration between federal entities and academic institutions, aiming to boost the nation’s capability to contribute to both regional and global space initiatives. It also supports the leadership’s goal to establish the UAE as a global leader in space exploration, science, and technology.
During the visit, SAASST provided an overview of its key research and educational facilities. This was followed by a scientific show at the Sharjah Planetarium titled “Deen Alqayima.” Additionally, the delegation toured several facilities and laboratories at the University of Sharjah, where they were introduced to cutting-edge technologies and research equipment that foster an innovative environment and prepare a new generation of distinguished researchers and scientists.
