Dubai Announces Two-Month Traffic Diversions on Major Roads

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced two-month traffic diversions affecting Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road, and the Dubai–Al Ain Road. These changes are necessary to facilitate rainwater and groundwater drainage works and are expected to last from June 28, 2025, through the end of summer. For the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, the RTA stated that a diversion will take place at Al Barari Underpass. Commuters can use alternative routes, including the Dubai–Al Ain Bridge for a U-turn toward Jebel Ali or the Global Village Underpass and Umm Suqeim Street intersection for a U-turn toward Sharjah.

On Emirates Road, the RTA revealed that a diversion will occur at Mudon Underpass, with the same start date of June 28, 2025. The work will involve upgrades to the rainwater and groundwater drainage systems, along with road resurfacing. Alternative routes for travelers include Underpass 7 for a U-turn toward Jebel Ali or a route from Hessa Street to Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Street heading towards Dubai.

Further diversions will also take place on the Dubai–Al Ain Road at Umm Al Daman Underpass. This temporary diversion aims to enhance drainage systems and will also start on June 28, 2025. Commuters can take the alternative route via Umm Nahad Bridge at Intersection 4 for a U-turn toward Dubai to help ensure a smoother journey.
