IMCD Expands Operations with New Offices and Technical Centres in Dubai Science Park

IMCD, a leading global distribution and formulation company specializing in specialty chemicals and ingredients, has chosen Dubai Science Park to establish a laboratory complex that enhances the UAE’s position as an important research and development (R&D) hub. The new facility, spanning 4 160 square feet, features dedicated floors for food and beverage (F&B) and coatings and construction (C&C) Technical Centres.

The facility is designed to conduct a wide range of development, testing, and analyses, addressing the specific needs of the regional market. IMCD Middle East is focusing on growth in the F&B sector across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt, as well as expanding its presence in the C&C segment through these new facilities.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, emphasized the importance of science-led advancements for the UAE’s long-term sustainable development goals. He noted that material development and testing contribute significantly to enhancing Dubai’s and the UAE’s value chains in critical industries. The launch of IMCD Middle East’s laboratories aligns with national initiatives such as food security and sustainable construction, supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’ and the Dubai Research and Development Programme.

Manuel Baumann, Managing Director of IMCD Middle East, remarked that the new laboratories reflect the rising demand for specialized testing and formulation expertise in the region. This facility will enable closer partnerships with local manufacturers, helping to address specific local needs in new product development and promote sustainable practices. He highlighted that IMCD’s expansion in the Middle East will play a crucial role in regional food security and the development of environmentally-friendly building techniques, leveraging Dubai’s status as an innovation hub.

The food laboratories at IMCD Middle East are equipped to assist in the creation of new food products, conducting texture analyses, sensory evaluations, and developing food product prototypes. These services will benefit businesses in various sectors, including bakery, dairy, beverage, culinary, savory, snacks, and confectionery, utilizing IMCD’s extensive ingredient portfolio and global expertise.

Conversely, the C&C laboratories are focused on developing more sustainable building products, particularly in areas such as waterproofing and coatings.
