Dubai Introduces Flexible Work Options as Part of New Family Programme

Dubai is exploring work-from-home options and customized office hours to support work-life balance as part of the newly announced Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme. This initiative aims to encourage family building and improve the well-being of families in the region, according to a top official from the Community Development Authority (CDA).

As reported by Khaleej Times, the programme, announced by Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, is designed to promote societal stability by enhancing the growth and well-being of families. Almur mentioned that future phases will introduce additional benefits related to education, health, and social services, which are currently being developed in collaboration with relevant government entities.

The Dubai Weddings programme, which is also part of the family initiatives, aims to alleviate the financial burden on newlyweds. It reduces the monthly premium for housing loans to a minimum of Dh3,333 for beneficiaries, allowing families to allocate resources to childcare, education, and savings. Almur noted that this initiative ensures that housing remains affordable while maintaining financial stability for families.

Beneficiaries of the Dubai Weddings programme also receive priority access to ready-made housing to facilitate a smooth transition into family life. Eligible couples can apply through the housing programme portal, with allocations based on availability and priority criteria. Launched in January of the previous year, the Dubai Weddings programme has facilitated 344 weddings in its first year, covering the costs of the main ceremony and providing free access to halls and neighbourhood Majlises.

The official explained that the wedding celebration includes several elegant features, such as Al Kosha, a beautifully decorated stage for the bride and groom, which serves as the event’s centerpiece. Additional offerings include a dinner banquet, professional photography and videography services, beverage hospitality, and a dedicated perfume corner showcasing traditional fragrances, along with digital elements like electronic invitations and welcome cards to enhance guest experience.

Couples can apply for these benefits through the Dubai Now app. Once applications are reviewed for eligibility and approved, couples receive logistical and financial support to host their weddings seamlessly. The programme will also introduce training initiatives for beneficiaries, which will include workshops on financial planning, marital rights, and life skills, open to newlyweds and young families. Interested individuals can register for these sessions via the programme’s website or through partner institutions.
