University of Sharjah Showcases Innovations at BETT 2025

The University of Sharjah (UoS) made a significant impact at the British Educational Training and Technology Conference and Exhibition (BETT 2025), which took place in London from January 20 to 24. Participating as part of the official delegation from Sharjah, organized by the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SEPA), the event also included representatives from the universities of Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Al Dhaid.

During the conference, UoS showcased its latest electronic services and outlined the main elements of its strategic plan for educational technology and digital transformation, which spans from 2024 to 2030. This active participation demonstrates the University’s commitment to embracing technological advancements that enhance educational quality and promote engagement between students and faculty members.

The delegation was headed by Prof. Abbes Amira, the Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, alongside Prof. Shareefa Al Marzooqi, the Director of the Media Centre. Prof. Amira underscored the importance of attending specialized exhibitions such as BETT, which focus on education and technology. He described the event as a crucial step in supporting the University’s EDGE strategy, which emphasizes digital transformation, innovation, and academic excellence.

He also highlighted that the University’s involvement allows for the exploration of advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the metaverse, which can foster innovation in education and introduce new solutions. Furthermore, the event opened doors for collaboration with global institutions, reinforcing the University’s reputation as a leading center for innovation and excellence.

The delegation took the opportunity to explore the latest educational technology practices presented by prominent companies including Microsoft, Meta, and Google. Prof. Shareefa Al Marzooqi emphasized the importance of the University’s presence at this year’s exhibition, noting that it reflects the institution’s efforts to modernize teaching methods in line with global trends towards AI. This modernization aims to make education more effective in delivering academic content and achieving outcomes that enhance students’ skills and capabilities.
