Dubai Municipality has expanded its community responsibilities by organizing over 162 volunteer initiatives as part of the “Hour with the Cleanliness Engineer” program for 2024. This initiative saw participation from 7 180 volunteers representing 136 governmental, semi-governmental, and private entities, along with significant involvement from individual community members.

The municipality documented approximately 7 000 hours of fieldwork contributed by participants in these events and campaigns, which aimed to enhance the sustainability of the city’s cleanliness and maintain the local environment’s aesthetic and functional quality across various regions of Dubai.
Additionally, a substantial amount of waste collected by volunteers was recycled, promoting a positive environmental impact and encouraging community members to adopt practices of waste collection, sorting, and recycling. Engineer Saeed Abdul Rahim Safar, Director of Waste Operations at Dubai Municipality, stated that the “Hour with the Cleanliness Engineer” initiative reflects the vibrant civic spirit of the local community and their awareness of social responsibility.
