Dubai New Year’s Eve saw 2.5m People use public transport

Dubai’s public transport system saw a significant increase in usage during New Year’s Eve 2025 celebrations, with a total of 2,502,474 passengers recorded, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This marks a 9.3% rise compared to the 2,288,631 passengers reported on the same occasion last year.

The Dubai Metro carried the highest number of commuters, with 1,133,251 riders using the Red and Green lines. The Dubai Tram transported 55,391 passengers, while public buses served 465,779 commuters. Marine transport services also saw activity, ferrying 80,066 riders across the city.

E-hailing services played a notable role, serving 195,651 users. Meanwhile, shared transport vehicles handled 1,238 passengers, and taxis remained a popular choice, accommodating 571,098 riders.

The RTA highlighted the success of a detailed plan developed in partnership with various entities in Dubai to ensure smooth and safe travel for those heading to and from celebration venues.
