The Net Zero Centre will focus on updating strategies, supervising zero neutrality projects, and supporting government and private agencies in achieving their sustainability targets. According to Al Aufi, the centre’s responsibilities will include overseeing energy efficiency projects and providing technical guidance to various sectors.

In addition, the hub aims to bring the latest international practices and technologies to Oman. It will also encourage scientific research and innovation while fostering the development of local expertise in sustainability.

The centre will manage areas such as carbon, hydrogen, and low-carbon product certifications, working in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Environment Authority. It will also handle carbon credit trading requests, ensuring they align with global carbon credit frameworks.

This initiative underscores Oman’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its ambitions to lead in climate action across the region.
