The inaugural UAE-Morocco Business Council was officially launched in Sharjah, marking a significant step in strengthening economic ties between the two nations. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, who serves as the Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), proudly welcomed attendees at the event.

The meeting included prominent figures such as Ahmed Al Tazi, the Ambassador of Morocco to the UAE, and Chakib Alj, the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). Representatives from the UAE Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy and council members from both countries were also present. Al Owais emphasized that this first session in Sharjah signifies a new milestone in the robust and growing relationship between the UAE and Morocco, presenting promising opportunities for businesses and investors.
Al Owais highlighted the UAE’s diverse investment landscape, which he believes will enhance collaboration between Emirati and Moroccan business communities. He stated that the Council’s meetings would lay the groundwork for a new phase of joint initiatives, uniting leading business figures, investors, and major commercial entities from both nations.
Chakib Alj confirmed that the establishment of the Business Council resulted from collaborative efforts between CGEM and the Federation of UAE Chambers. He pointed out the significant growth potential in various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, the agri-food industry, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technologies. Alj also praised the increasing number of Moroccan companies operating in the UAE and noted the growing Emirati investments in Morocco, indicating a dynamic and evolving economic partnership.
The UAE-Morocco Business Council will be co-chaired by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais representing the UAE and Anas Guennoun, Vice-President of CGEM’s International Affairs Committee representing Morocco. Both leaders reviewed the Council’s future roadmap and action plan, underlining the importance of ongoing cooperation in the private sector. They encouraged further initiatives to strengthen connections between institutions and businesses in both countries.
