Saudi Arabia and Netherlands Sign Agreements Worth Over $114 Million

Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands have signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU) with investments exceeding SR428 million (approximately $114.13 million) in Amsterdam. These agreements aim to develop and localize modern technologies in the environmental, water, and agricultural sectors.

The signing ceremony took place during the visit of Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti, from June 10 to 12. The event was attended by various Dutch government officials, as well as senior executives and business leaders from both public and private sectors.

Among the key agreements was a MoU between the Saudi National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector and the Dutch company VigGuard, focusing on localizing livestock disease control research. Additional MoUs were signed with the National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development, the Dutch Greenhouse Alliance, and several companies, including Hoogendoorn and Hudson River Biotechnology, to initiate projects in agricultural technology and research.

Partnerships also included a MoU between the National Agricultural Services Company and Delphi to bolster agricultural innovation. Another notable agreement was signed between the Makkah Region Development Authority and Van der Hoeven Projects for Protected Agriculture, aimed at transferring and localizing biotechnology in the region.

In another significant collaboration, Al-Yasin Agricultural Company and the Cobret Experimental Center agreed to a partnership worth up to one million euros to foster biotechnology in crop protection. A further MoU was signed between the Saudi Greenhouse Management and Agricultural Marketing Company and Plantae and Certhon, focusing on localizing innovations within the agricultural sector.

A separate memorandum of understanding was established between the Lehaa Group of Companies for Trade and Agricultural Investment, the Dutch Royal HZPC Group, and the Gal Sahara Potato Production Company, which involves investments surpassing SR76 million. This agreement aims to enhance potato production in Saudi Arabia and to set up a French fries factory with advanced processing technologies.

Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti also oversaw the signing of six MoUs between Dafa Agricultural Company and various specialists in vegetables, fruits, fertilizers, greenhouses, and software project supply, totaling investments of over SR292 million. This visit supports the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s plans to strengthen the global capacity of the Saudi agricultural sector, increase the production and export of local agricultural products, and foster international partnerships in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
