Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) to enhance cooperation in industrial innovation and academic engagement. This agreement marks a significant step toward empowering students and aligning scientific research with market needs, in line with the UAE’s Industrial Transformation strategy.

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Osama Amir Fadhel, Assistant Undersecretary for the Industrial Accelerators Sector at MoIAT, and Dr. Hamad Odhabi, Vice Chancellor of AI and Operational Excellence at Abu Dhabi University. The signing took place during the fourth edition of the “Make it in the Emirates” forum, where ADU showcased various student-led innovations that align with the UAE’s strategic industrial priorities.
H.E. Osama Amir Fadhel stated that the partnership with ADU is a practical step to align research with industry needs, empowering students and delivering innovative solutions. He emphasized that academic institutions are vital in building capacity and empowering national talent for sustainable industrial growth, thereby strengthening the business environment and supporting a competitive, knowledge-based economy.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, remarked that the MoU demonstrates a shared commitment to empower students, who will be the architects of the future economy. He highlighted the importance of positioning academic institutions as key drivers of sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness.
The partnership will initiate various collaborative projects aimed at advancing the UAE’s industrial transformation. These initiatives will promote innovation in priority sectors, facilitate knowledge exchange in advanced technologies, and develop professional training programs for students, specialists, and startups, thereby supporting local initiatives like Make it in the Emirates.
During the “Make it in the Emirates” forum, ADU students presented innovative projects, including PipeGuard Falcon, an AI-powered robotic system for pipeline inspection, and 3D-printed concrete solutions aimed at sustainable infrastructure. Other highlights included a smart medication management system, a drone detection system, and an AgriTech device for precision farming.
Abu Dhabi University continues to play a key role in the UAE’s industrial transformation, actively participating in national initiatives and preparing the next generation of engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs for a future shaped by advanced technology and sustainability.
