Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has made a significant advancement by adopting Google’s advanced NotebookLM technology to convert its press releases into podcasts. This initiative highlights DEWA’s commitment to leading in artificial intelligence (AI) adoption, as it becomes the first government entity in the world to implement this AI-powered model for such a purpose. This new approach allows the public to engage with DEWA’s news in a more interactive and seamless manner.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the proactive vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The directive from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence of the UAE, aims to establish Dubai as a global hub for artificial intelligence. Al Tayer stated that DEWA is working towards becoming the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating AI into all its operations. He noted that adopting Google’s NotebookLM will transform how DEWA communicates with its audiences, transitioning from traditional press releases to innovative content that appeals to a broader audience with varying interests.

Al Tayer further explained that this initiative is part of DEWA’s efforts to achieve digital leadership and smart communication. He described it as a qualitative shift in the delivery of news and information, aligning with the aspirations of the new generation. This transformation enhances transparency and innovation in government operations while fostering stronger, more interactive relationships with all stakeholders.

NotebookLM is recognized as one of Google’s most advanced generative AI tools, capable of analyzing documents, extracting key ideas, and formatting them into natural dialogue. This capability not only improves understanding but also transforms traditional content into interactive audio experiences that people can enjoy on the go or while engaging in daily activities.

The podcasts generated from DEWA’s press releases will be accessible on its official website, social media accounts, and leading global podcast platforms.
