Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice Walid Al-Samaani met with Japan’s Minister of Justice Keisuke Suzuki in Tokyo to discuss strengthening judicial ties between their countries. During this official visit, Al-Samaani showcased the Kingdom’s recent legal and judicial reforms, which are backed by the Saudi leadership. He highlighted initiatives such as specialized legislation designed to provide prompt and transparent justice.

Al-Samaani also discussed significant advancements, including the use of real-time audio and video documentation for court hearings, whether in-person or through virtual litigation. Additionally, he noted the publication of judicial rulings and the expansion of preventive justice, which includes the notarization of enforceable contracts.
At the conclusion of their meeting, the two ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the judicial field. This agreement allows for the exchange of legal expertise and best practices in several areas, including legislation, capacity building, and dispute resolution.
