Dubai Allows Cryptocurrency Payments for Government Fees

Dubai’s Department of Finance has entered into an agreement with Crypto.com, a global cryptocurrency trading platform, to facilitate the payment of government service fees using cryptocurrency. This agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Dubai FinTech Summit, where senior officials were present.

Once the new system is implemented, both individuals and businesses will be able to utilize Crypto.com’s digital wallet for making payments related to government services. The platform will convert these cryptocurrency payments into Emirati dirhams and securely transfer the funds to accounts held by Dubai Finance.

This initiative is in line with the Dubai Cashless Strategy, which aims to enhance the local economy and reinforce Dubai’s status as a leader in financial innovation and digital transformation. Officials have indicated that this step represents significant progress toward establishing a fully digital and cashless government that prioritizes secure, inclusive, and future-ready financial solutions.
