The King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC) has partnered with Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology (ICT), to launch Saudi Arabia’s first Smart WiFi-7 network. This innovative service aims to enhance connectivity and digital infrastructure for residents, visitors, and tenants within the KAFD area of Riyadh.

This collaboration strengthens KAFD’s reputation as a smart city and a pioneer in implementing cutting-edge technologies. The introduction of WiFi-7 is part of KAFD’s Smart City Platform, which utilizes artificial intelligence and data analysis to provide integrated digital services. This initiative is expected to optimize data usage and reinforce KAFD’s status as a hub of innovation in the region.
Ramez Al-Fayez, Chief Information Technology Officer at KAFD DMC, emphasized the commitment to delivering a high-quality urban experience through world-class digital infrastructure. He stated that the partnership with Huawei to introduce Smart WiFi-7 reflects their dedication to driving innovation and enhancing urban development standards, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s Quality of Life Program. Al-Fayez noted that Riyadh ranks 3rd regionally and 25th globally in the IMD Smart Cities Index 2024, and KAFD’s focus on pioneering technologies will further elevate its status as a leading smart city.
With the rollout of Smart WiFi-7, users will enjoy a superior digital experience that includes fast and secure internet access, stable connectivity even during peak times, and various authentication methods. This technology will also provide personalized suggestions and offers based on individual preferences.
Additionally, retail stores and restaurants within KAFD will have access to an efficient advertising platform to promote their offers and leverage data-driven decision-making through analytics, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and profitability.
This launch represents a key milestone in the partnership between KAFD DMC and Huawei, which began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at LEAP 2025. Their collaboration focuses on advancing smart city applications and technologies, aiming to enhance the digital experiences within the district’s 1.6 million square meters of development. KAFD has also distinguished itself by becoming the first neighborhood in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to receive WiredScore’s Global Smart Neighborhood Certification, recognizing its top-tier digital infrastructure that ensures robust connectivity and a seamless living, working, and recreational environment.
