The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has introduced a significant Declaration on Longevity and Precision Medicine during the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025. This initiative marks a pivotal step in enhancing healthcare delivery and research on a global scale.

Developed in partnership with prominent international health organizations, academic institutions, and industry leaders, the declaration lays out essential principles aimed at advancing precision medicine and longevity science. The signing of this declaration involved key players such as M42, Masdar City, PureHealth, Illumina, NYU Abu Dhabi, the University of Pennsylvania, Aldar, Children’s National Hospital, Burjeel, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD).
Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, the Chairman of DoH, emphasized the importance of healthy populations in fostering strong communities and driving economic growth. He stated that the declaration unites global leaders in leveraging emerging technologies responsibly to enhance the benefits of precision medicine for all. He expressed pride in launching the “Charter for Healthy Longevity and Precision Medicine,” highlighting the commitment to improving global health and well-being.
The declaration addresses the urgent need to personalize healthcare and promote research aimed at extending healthy lifespans. It brings attention to the growing disparity between health span and lifespan, which currently is about a decade globally. This launch comes at a crucial moment, as the World Health Organization anticipates that the population aged 60 and older will double to 2.1 billion by 2050. In addition, the precision medicine market is projected to expand from US$81 billion in 2023 to over US$175 billion by 2030.
As a leader in the longevity sector, the UAE is making strides with innovative regulatory frameworks and investments in precision medicine. The country is home to the world’s first licensed Healthy Longevity Medicine Centre, and its longevity market is expected to grow from US$19 billion in 2020 to US$32 billion by 2026.
The declaration sets forth bold commitments to advance longevity science, including six key pillars: promoting research and innovation, enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing, investing in education and workforce development, advocating for supportive policy and regulation, upholding ethics and responsible practices, and engaging the public in longevity research.
For residents of the UAE, this declaration promises a future of more personalized and proactive healthcare, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as genetic testing and artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to improve disease prevention, expedite diagnosis, and enhance care effectiveness, thereby reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global leader in health innovation.
Governments, health organizations, and relevant stakeholders around the world are invited to support and sign the declaration.
