Lebanon’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Kamal Shehadi, has stated that an investment of $50 million could significantly transform the government and enhance its accountability. In an interview with The National, Shehadi explained that this funding would be directed towards establishing a national ID system, digitising payment processes, and developing the necessary infrastructure for artificial intelligence.

Shehadi, a former executive at e&, emphasized that these initiatives are crucial for modernizing government operations and improving public services. He highlighted that the proposed changes could lead to more efficient management and better service delivery to citizens.
The implementation of a national ID system, according to Shehadi, would facilitate various digital services and streamline interactions between the government and the public. By digitising payments, the government aims to reduce inefficiencies and enhance transparency in financial transactions.
