City Glass has announced the acquisition of its first skyscraper project, the 32-storey Catamaran Verandas. This milestone is a significant advancement in the company’s goal to become a leader in facade solutions for high-rise buildings in the region.

The Catamaran Verandas project, designed by Arab Architects, will feature a cutting-edge aluminium and glass facade system that meets Passive House certification standards. This is a notable first for Bahrain, as highlighted by Sayed Mohamed Al-Alawi, the Executive Manager of City Glass, in a statement to Gulf Construction. The building will incorporate treble-glazed units to enhance its thermal insulation, acoustic performance, and energy efficiency.
Currently, construction is underway on the Catamaran Verandas project, which is set for completion in February 2026. City Glass – Bahrain is responsible for supplying and installing over 26 000 square meters of facade materials for this ambitious project. Al-Alawi emphasized the company’s aim to redefine facade engineering, stating, “With projects like Catamaran Verandas, we’re proving that Bahraini expertise can lead the region’s high-rise revolution.”
Since its establishment, City Glass – Bahrain has established itself as a comprehensive provider of advanced facade solutions, catering to both B2B and B2C markets. The company’s strategic expansion into aluminium operations in 2020 marked a transformative period, allowing it to offer integrated glass and aluminium systems.
City Glass is now recognized as a regional leader in the execution and installation of customized facade systems, combining innovation, precision, and sustainability. Al-Alawi remarked on the company’s unique value proposition, noting that it provides end-to-end facade solutions, which streamlines project timelines, reduces costs, and ensures seamless design execution.
Their diverse portfolio demonstrates versatility in meeting various architectural needs, such as the advanced glazing systems at the Long Stay Care Centre in Muharraq for healthcare, the high-end villa facade solutions at the 107-villa Khudr Homes project for residential developments, and scalable designs for commercial multi-storey buildings.
City Glass intends to leverage its experience from the Catamaran Verandas project to pursue additional skyscraper projects throughout the GCC, where there is a continued focus on high-rise development. The company is also investing in research and development for smart facade technologies, including dynamic shading systems and photovoltaic-integrated glass.
The significance of the Catamaran Verandas project goes beyond mere market expansion; it reflects Bahrain’s dedication to sustainable construction practices. Al-Alawi pointed out that achieving Passive House certification aligns with global trends in green building, further showcasing Bahrain’s commitment to eco-friendly innovation.
The adoption of treble glazing and specialized aluminium systems sets a new standard in high-rise design, aligning with international sustainability efforts. Al-Alawi concluded by emphasizing City Glass – Bahrain’s evolution from a local facade provider to an innovative leader in skyscraper construction, highlighting its focus on sustainability and the ability to tackle complex challenges in shaping Bahrain’s urban skyline.
