SEWA Launches 24 Road Lighting Projects Across Sharjah

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has initiated 24 road lighting projects throughout various areas of Sharjah as part of its strategic plan to enhance infrastructure and improve public lighting efficiency. In 2024, SEWA successfully completed over 19 lighting projects, which included the installation of 4,640 lampposts, conducting 51,379 maintenance operations, and laying down 206,396 meters of cables. Additionally, work is ongoing on several other projects aimed at further improving the road lighting network.

Engineer Ahmed Al Bas, Deputy Director of the Electricity Distribution Department, detailed that these projects cover numerous significant locations in Sharjah City. These include lighting the road leading to the Ladies Park in Al Juraina, internal roads in the Al Siouh District, and the roads and bridges surrounding the Al Layyah Canal. The projects also feature decorative lighting in the Palm Oasis, as well as enhanced illumination for the internal roads in Al Tilal City and various parking spaces at mosques and parks throughout Sharjah.

Currently, SEWA is progressing on several key projects, including lighting the roads leading to the Fort in the Faili area, which is 70% complete, and updating the lighting on Aljada Road in Muwailih, at a 10% completion rate. Other initiatives include distinctive decorative lighting for the external roads of the bridges on Dhaid Road, which is 5% complete, as well as improvements in the Khorfakkan tunnels, which are currently 40% complete. SEWA is committed to selecting appropriate lighting types and designs for each area, ensuring safety and aesthetic appeal for all road users.
