The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) has recently accredited two international organizations: Academia Sinica in Taiwan and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Notably, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is the first research organization in the UAE to receive the prestigious AAHRPP “gold seal.”

With this new accreditation, these organizations join a global network of 600 entities committed to AAHRPP’s standards for high-quality and ethical research practices. AAHRPP President and CEO Elyse I. Summers emphasized that each accreditation moves the industry closer to shared global standards for conducting research and protecting participants. She commended the accredited organizations for their significant contributions to strengthening the research field and promoting discoveries that benefit society.
AAHRPP has successfully accredited research entities across various countries, including the United States, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, among others. This includes all major independent institutional review boards in the U.S. and over 85% of the top National Institutes of Health-funded academic medical centers, reflecting the widespread commitment to these rigorous standards.
As a nonprofit organization, AAHRPP provides accreditation to organizations that conduct or review human research, ensuring their protections exceed the basic requirements set by international guidelines and laws governing human research.
