According to the IOC, this contract extends the current agreement with NBC by four years and represents a substantial contribution to the long-term financial stability of the entire Olympic movement. The deal includes the rights for the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and the 2036 Summer Olympics, for which the host city has yet to be determined.

With this new agreement, NBC is elevated to the status of a strategic partner rather than merely a rights holder. The IOC’s executive board approved the contract, authorizing the next president of the IOC, who will be elected on March 20, to sign it upon taking office in June. The prior agreement with NBC was signed in 2014 for 7.75 billion dollars, covering both summer and winter games through 2032.
