The Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA) has announced significant progress in consumer and commercial protection for the year 2024. According to a report from the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the resolution rate for consumer complaints against economic establishments reached 90 percent, an increase from 83.4 percent in 2023. This improvement highlights ADRA’s commitment to enhancing consumer rights and fostering a robust business environment, with the total estimated value of goods and services involved in these complaints amounting to AED26.3 million.

In addition to resolving complaints, ADRA took proactive measures by conducting field visits across various commercial establishments and sales outlets in Abu Dhabi to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In 2024, ADRA completed 251,083 field visits, marking a 4.5 percent increase from the 240,229 visits made in 2023. Moreover, awareness campaigns saw a notable rise of 45 percent, increasing from 3,706 to 5,397 campaigns, aimed at educating the business community about regulatory standards.
During these inspections, ADRA issued 7,951 warnings and identified 3,081 violations, along with 53 closure cases. The value of goods and products that did not comply with legal standards was estimated at AED40.8 million. His Excellency Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, acting director general of ADRA, emphasized that consumer rights and intellectual property are top priorities for the organization. He noted the launch of a new Artificial Intelligence-powered consumer protection service on the Abu Dhabi Government Services portal (TAMM) to enhance consumer awareness and feedback.
Al Mansouri also stated that consumer complaints and field visits are crucial for ensuring compliance in the business sector and continuously improving the investment climate in the emirate. He mentioned that 96 percent of participants in ADRA’s annual survey in 2024 expressed satisfaction with the authority’s inspection and regulatory activities, reinforcing ADRA’s dedication to improving services and solidifying Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a destination for talent, businesses, and investments.
