Emirates Health Services (EHS) has announced the implementation of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in its Medical Examination Centers for Residency. This initiative aims to improve the detection of pulmonary tuberculosis through general chest imaging exams, marking a significant step in EHS’s strategy to enhance the quality of diagnostic services and provide more accurate and timely healthcare.

Since the introduction of AI technology in 2021, the accuracy of pulmonary tuberculosis detection has increased dramatically from 80% to an impressive 98% by 2024. This notable enhancement underscores the advancements in AI capabilities, particularly in high-precision imaging analysis.
His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Naqbi, Acting Executive Director of the Supportive Health Services Sector at EHS, emphasized that the integration of AI technologies represents a crucial advancement in boosting the accuracy and efficiency of medical diagnoses. He stated that this technology significantly improves the speed at which infectious diseases, such as pulmonary tuberculosis, can be identified, allowing for quicker interventions and ensuring healthcare delivery meets the highest standards.
Dr. Al-Naqbi highlighted that digital innovation is fundamental to enhancing the sustainability of health services and fulfilling the UAE’s vision for the future in this vital sector. Through these initiatives, EHS seeks to offer a comprehensive health experience that prioritizes community needs, aligning with global best practices and reinforcing the UAE’s position as a leader in digital health.
This technology allows for the analysis of imaging in under a minute, which drastically reduces the time radiologists need to finalize medical reports. This increased efficiency not only accelerates the diagnostic process but also initiates immediate treatment, thereby helping to contain the spread of disease and improve patient outcomes.
Through this initiative, Emirates Health Services reaffirms its commitment to adopting the latest technologies to enhance healthcare services, further establishing the UAE as a hub for healthcare innovation. The use of AI in disease diagnosis is expanding rapidly around the world, and this project exemplifies the UAE’s leadership in leveraging modern technologies to improve health and quality of life for individuals.
