The Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security, and Public Utilities Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council convened a meeting with the Housing Department to discuss the emirate’s housing policies, projects, and strategies aimed at enhancing the housing sector. The meeting took place as part of the committee’s second session of the eleventh legislative term, focusing on recent developments and sustainability measures in housing initiatives.

Discussions highlighted the importance of creating a well-integrated residential environment that meets the evolving needs of citizens while maintaining high standards for quality and social well-being. The committee examined how the Housing Department collaborates with relevant authorities to expedite project completions and improve service efficiency for beneficiaries. This emphasis on collaboration aims to ensure timely and effective housing solutions for the community.
The meeting was presided over by Engineer Jamila Mohammed Al Fandi Al Shamsi, the Chairperson of the Committee, and included key attendees such as members Ahmed Rashid Al Shamsi, Majid Ahmed Al Darwishi Al Shamsi, Sultan bin Dalmouk Al Suwaidi, Fatima Mohammed Khosoni Al Ketbi, Ahmed Obaid Al Awasiya Al Zaabi, and Salem Mohammed Al Rashidi. Additionally, council members Dr. Sultan Khamis Al Zaabi and Rashid Saleh Al Hammadi were present to contribute to the discussions.
Engineer Khalid bin Butti Al Muhairi, the Executive Council Member of Sharjah and Chairman of the Housing Department, welcomed the committee and senior department officials. The meeting involved a review of future strategies aligned with the Housing Department’s vision and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. These directives emphasize the necessity for Emirati citizens to have access to sufficient housing that supports family security and social stability.
During the meeting, council members engaged in discussions about various aspects of the Housing Department’s policies. They addressed the optimization of residential land use, the streamlining of housing grant procedures, and the introduction of measures to expedite the delivery of ready-to-live homes. The conversation also focused on enhancing housing services to effectively serve citizens across all regions of the emirate.
Engineer Jamila Mohammed Al Fandi Al Shamsi reaffirmed the committee’s strong commitment to the housing sector, recognizing it as a vital element of social stability.
