Taskeen Ahmed, the President of DCCI, and Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber, represented their respective organizations in this agreement. During the event, Taskeen Ahmed encouraged Sharjah investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh’s infrastructure sector, emphasizing that such investments would enhance bilateral trade and attract additional foreign investors.

Taskeen Ahmed also highlighted the potential of Bangladesh’s large youth population in the IT sector, inviting entrepreneurs from Sharjah to invest in this area. He noted the opportunity for diversification through environmentally friendly jute products, suggesting that this sector holds significant promise for investment.

Currently, a bank based in the UAE is operating in Bangladesh. In light of this, Taskeen Ahmed invited other UAE banks, specifically mentioning Sharjah Islami Bank, to establish their offshore banking operations in Bangladesh, which would help further expand trade and investment ties between the two regions. He recommended that the Bangladesh government provide incentives for foreign investors, particularly in economic zones, pointing out that Sharjah entrepreneurs could invest in various industries such as leather goods, electronics, home appliances, footwear, and food processing.

In discussing logistics, Taskeen Ahmed expressed that sharing Sharjah’s expertise in this area could greatly benefit Bangladesh’s logistics sector. He also mentioned that Bangladesh could serve as a gateway for UAE exports to markets in South and Southeast Asia.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber, remarked on the positive trajectory of Bangladesh’s exports, especially in readymade garments, which have seen an increase in markets across America, Europe, and the Middle East. He noted that East and West African countries represent new potential markets for Bangladeshi exports, with the UAE positioned as a strategic entry point.

He pointed out that over one million Bangladeshis are currently employed in the UAE across various sectors, and he stressed the importance of enhancing skill development to create more employment opportunities for them.

Furthermore, a business-to-business matchmaking session was held to facilitate connections between Sharjah Chamber businessmen and members of the DCCI delegation. Key figures present included DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury and Vice President Md Salem Sulaiman.
