Abu Dhabi has taken a significant step in advancing autonomous mobility solutions with the successful live demonstration of the HEXA light sport passenger electric aircraft. This event was conducted by the Advanced Mobility Hub in partnership with LIFT Aircraft Middle East, showcasing the aircraft’s cutting-edge technology, safety features, and eco-friendly propulsion systems

The HEXA aircraft is designed to transform personal air mobility, featuring a three-axis joystick, a three-axis autopilot system, and an all-electric propulsion mechanism, allowing for safe, user-friendly, and emission-free flight. The live flight experience occurred during the 4th ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium 2025 and the Global Sustainable Marketplace, where it drew attention from various government ministries from participating countries, highlighting the global significance of integrating advanced air mobility solutions into transportation infrastructure.

This demonstration signifies a major advancement for Abu Dhabi and the UAE in the field of transportation. The Advanced Mobility Hub and the AeroX Sports Club project aim to foster innovation, attract advanced technologies, and create an integrated air mobility ecosystem. This initiative positions Abu Dhabi and the UAE as leaders in the global aviation industry. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director general of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), noted that this direct experience with electric aircraft is a continuation of the UAE’s trials in this vital sector, emphasizing the GCAA’s commitment to regulating the industry to high safety standards.

In a further development, LIFT Middle East was launched in Abu Dhabi, aiming to assemble and manufacture light sports aircraft in the UAE. This initiative aligns with the goals of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) cluster, which seeks to establish Abu Dhabi as a global hub for smart and autonomous mobility solutions. Badr Al-Olama, director general of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), stated that this launch enhances the region’s position in smart mobility, reflecting ongoing efforts to lead in urban transportation and future industries.

Additionally, the AeroX Club project was introduced, aimed at redefining light aerial sports experiences in urban environments. This initiative is intended to provide access to new forms of light sports and create opportunities for personal flying and air sports experiences in the Middle East. Matt Chasen, CEO of LIFT Aircraft, emphasized the project’s role in establishing a foundation for local manufacturing and technological progress, which will enable aviation enthusiasts and professionals to experience innovative aviation solutions safely and accessibly.
