Armenian citizens will soon have the ability to drive in the UAE using their Armenia-issued driving licenses, thanks to a new agreement between the two countries. They are set to sign a memorandum that will allow for the mutual recognition of driving licenses.

The memorandum specifies that citizens from both Armenia and the UAE can utilize their respective driving licenses while residing temporarily in the other country, provided they meet the local minimum age requirements for holding a driving license. Furthermore, if a citizen relocates permanently from Armenia to the UAE, or vice versa, they will be able to exchange their current driving license for a local one without needing to take additional driving tests.
This new arrangement is part of a broader relationship, as the UAE is currently Armenia’s largest trading partner in the Gulf region, with thirty direct flights operating weekly between the two countries. Additionally, starting February 1, 2025, citizens from both nations will be able to stay in each other’s territory for up to ninety days without a visa requirement.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has indicated that these developments are expected to boost tourism numbers in both Armenia and the UAE.
