Dubai Customs has successfully intercepted a shipment containing 1.2 tonnes of psychoactive substances at the emirate’s air cargo terminal. The operation, carried out by the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, showcased the alertness and dedication of customs inspectors in preventing illegal trafficking.

By using advanced technologies and meticulous inspection methods, the team identified the nature of the substances and confirmed them as illegal mind-altering materials. Legal procedures were immediately initiated in coordination with the relevant authorities to address the smuggling attempt under UAE laws.
His Excellency Sultan bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, and Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, praised the efforts of Dubai Customs. He highlighted the UAE’s leadership in combatting smuggling and credited the success to smart technologies and highly trained inspection teams.
HE Bin Sulayem also described Dubai Customs as the “frontline defence” in protecting the community while supporting economic growth. He noted that such operations reflect the inspectors’ professionalism and commitment to ensuring the safety of the nation, its residents, and visitors.
Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, emphasized that this achievement contributes to global efforts to fight organized smuggling networks. He called for collective international cooperation to combat drug proliferation and maintain public safety.
