The United Arab Emirates is set to install more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by the end of 2025. This initiative aims to support clean transportation and help reduce carbon emissions, as stated by Sharif Al Olama, the Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

During the preliminary day of the World Governments Summit, Al Olama shared that the ministry, which holds a 50 percent stake in the UAEV, successfully installed over 100 chargers throughout the country in 2024. The ministry is now rapidly expanding the charging network to accommodate the increasing demand for electric vehicles.

Al Olama emphasized that the expansion initiative follows an integrated approach, collaborating with the private sector and local authorities. This partnership is vital to ensuring that a robust infrastructure supports the widespread adoption of EVs, aligning with the national sustainability goals.

Furthermore, Al Olama indicated that the ministry has set a target to boost renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030. This goal reflects the UAE’s commitment to advancing clean energy development and promoting sustainable practices.
