Dubai Health Board Highlights Global Partnerships in Healthcare

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Health Board and Chancellor of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), recently led a board meeting to discuss key achievements and future goals. The meeting, held at MBRU, was attended by prominent officials, including His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Board.

The discussion emphasised the critical role of global partnerships in improving medical education and strengthening healthcare services. Sheikh Ahmed praised Dubai Health’s progress, stating it reflects the emirate’s ambition to become a global healthcare hub.

One of the key highlights was the celebration of a decade-long collaboration between MBRU and Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). Established in 2015, this partnership has focused on advancing medical education and research. Sheikh Ahmed commended the collaboration as a model of international academic cooperation. To mark the milestone, he honoured Professor Sir Ian Andrew Greer, Chancellor of QUB and Dubai Health Board Member, for his contributions to the partnership.

Sheikh Mansoor also lauded the success of Dubai Health’s international collaborations, calling them essential for the healthcare system’s development. He thanked Dubai Health teams for their efforts to improve service quality and stressed the importance of academic and scientific partnerships in advancing the sector.

Her Excellency Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson of the MBRU Council, highlighted that this decade-long partnership has significantly enhanced the skills of healthcare professionals and improved patient care standards. Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health, noted that the collaboration has achieved notable milestones, such as accreditation of medical programs, scholarships for students, and the establishment of the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The meeting wrapped up with a reaffirmation of Dubai Health’s commitment to innovation and excellence, aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 33.
