The ‘Synthetic Memories’ project utilizes advanced generative AI technology to reconstruct fragmented memories through realistic visual and auditory recreations of past experiences. By merging AI with neuropsychological research, this initiative aspires to slow cognitive decline, improve emotional well-being, and assist patients in reconnecting with significant moments from their lives. Clinical trials will be conducted in collaboration with researchers at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, focusing on the technology’s effectiveness in the UAE’s diverse cultural setting, while prioritizing patient safety, data privacy, and ethical practices in AI.
Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, stated that the UAE leadership is dedicated to promoting the responsible use of AI, particularly in areas vital to societal well-being. She emphasized that initiatives like ‘Synthetic Memories’ reflect the country’s long-term strategy of incorporating AI innovations across healthcare, education, and economic development. Additionally, she noted that through collaborative partnerships, MBRCGI plays a significant role in positioning the UAE as a global frontrunner in utilizing AI to tackle challenges like neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s.
Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director-General of EHS, highlighted the project’s transformative potential in redefining elderly care through human-centered technological solutions. He pointed out that this initiative extends beyond traditional healthcare advancements by aiming to restore emotional and psychological well-being for memory-impaired patients. By facilitating interactive reconnection with lost memories, the technology significantly enhances the daily quality of life for these individuals, merging cutting-edge innovation with compassionate, patient-focused care.
As the exclusive healthcare partner at Arab Health 2025, EHS is presenting 19 innovative projects, with ‘Synthetic Memories’ serving as a flagship initiative. This partnership exemplifies the united vision of EHS and MBRCGI to promote scalable, future-ready healthcare solutions. By fusing government innovation with medical expertise, the UAE continues to lead in sustainable development and AI-driven public health strategies.
