Dubai South and Expeditors Announce New Logistics Facility Agreement

Dubai South, recognized as the largest single-urban master development focusing on aviation, logistics, and real estate, has signed an agreement with Expeditors International of Washington, Inc., a prominent Fortune 500 global logistics company. This collaboration marks the launch of a new facility for Expeditors at Dubai South’s Logistics District, aiming to address the increasing demand for advanced logistics solutions in the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by notable leaders from both organizations. Key figures included Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South; Mohsen Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of the Logistics District at Dubai South; and from Expeditors, Jeffrey S. Musser, President and Chief Executive Officer; K Murali, Senior Vice President for the Middle East, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent; Mathew Joseph, Regional Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa; and Wael Hanna, District Manager in Dubai.

The new facility will cover approximately 23,200 square meters and will enhance Expeditors’ warehousing and fulfillment services, alongside container freight station operations. These services will encompass inventory management, kitting, labeling, order management, compliance inspections, return programs, transportation management, and pick-and-pack services, as well as inspection and quality control.

Additionally, the container freight station will specialize in consolidating and segregating shipments, offering export services, and managing unit load device breakdowns. Operations at the facility are expected to begin in February 2025.

In his remarks, Mohsen Ahmad expressed satisfaction with the agreement, highlighting the benefits of partnering with a well-respected global logistics provider like Expeditors. He emphasized that this collaboration aligns with Dubai South’s commitment to support the government’s vision of establishing Dubai as a leading global logistics hub. Ahmad reaffirmed their dedication to assisting Expeditors in its expansion efforts to meet the rising demand for logistics services throughout the region.

Jeffrey Musser also commented on this significant development, stating that the new warehouse lease agreement represents a key milestone in Expeditors’ growth journey. He noted that this state-of-the-art facility is a testament to their commitment to meeting customer demands while improving operational efficiency. Musser acknowledged Dubai South’s strategic investment in essential infrastructure to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global logistics hub, reflecting on the company’s presence in Dubai for over 25 years and their ongoing commitment to delivering innovative supply chain solutions.
